SCHC kicks off capital fund drive: 'Campaign for Community Health'
August 2007 - Southwest Community Health center is raising $2 million for the new Parman Center for Healthy Families, named after Michael Parman, the late publisher of the Press Democrat. Building this expanded facility will enable SCHC to more than double our current capacity, serving an additional 10,000 uninsured people in Sonoma County.
The Parman Center for Healthy Families will be a comprehensive medical campus offering primary care, specialty services, a dental clinic, adult day services, and a mental health program. The new site will also serve as a campus for other health care and service providers, including lab, radiology, pharmacy, and optometry. Our vision for the Parman Center for Healthy Families is to be a center of excellence for medical care!

SCHC's vision for this new facility is to partner with other agencies with similar or aligned missions, as well as service organizations, medical offices, and a café. Santa Rosa architect Bill Knight is working with developers, Drs. Dan Marin and Jim Berger, to create a village-like design that will foster communication and interaction among the various agencies located there. This new facility will improve communication and coordination of services, providing streamlined access for clients so they don’t get lost in the system, and reduced duplication across agencies.
That's why we have named this fund drive the Community Campaign for Healthy Families.
SCHC is extremely fortunate to have talented and visionary leaders in the public and non-profit sectors. Sonoma County Supervisor Mike Reilly is serving as chair of our capital campaign committee. Other community leaders who are serving as committee members will be announced soon. People have responded to the invitation to join in this project with enthusiasm and excitement about creating a system of medical care and support that will truly work for the people SCHC serves. To date, during the campaign's initial "stealth" phase, SCHC has raised more than $650,000 in contributions.
Just as critical to the success of this effort are the thousands of individuals like you in our community who regularly contribute to SCHC and support our work. You are partners with SCHC in caring for the uninsured.
