Southwest Community Health Center names fund development director
Santa Rosa, CA Southwest Community Health Center is pleased to welcome Michael Magnaye as Fund Development Director. Magnaye brings with him more than 12 years of professional fundraising and marketing experience in health care, international development, education, and the arts. Most recently he was the development director of Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, a national advocacy organization addressing health issues facing Asians and Pacific Islanders such as language barriers and health access for the uninsured.
Magnaye has raised funds for The Hearing Society, Girl Scouts of America, International Development Exchange, UNICEF, and various documentary film projects. He has extensive experience in individual donor development, corporate fundraising, and grant writing for foundations and government agencies. Magnaye is also familiar with the grant-giving side of fundraising having served as a board member of the Pacific Pioneer Fund and co-chair of Grantmakers Without Borders, part of the National Network of Grantmakers (NNG).
He holds a Bachelor's Degree (Cum Laude) from the University of the Philippines and a Masters in Communication from Stanford University. Born and raised in the Philippines, Magnaye came to the San Francisco Bay Area for his education and never left.
"As the fund development point-person of SCHC, my job is to bring together the resources and ideas generated by staff, board, volunteers, and the community, so that we can continue caring for the uninsured for the long haul," Magnaye says. "SCHC offers many vital programs and services beyond what Medical, Medicare, fee-for-service, and existing income sources can cover. This past year alone, SCHC provided about $900,000 worth of medical care that went uncompensated. We have to make sure that that amount is covered every year - through the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community."
