Southwest Community Health Center welcomes new board members, elects new officers
Santa Rosa, CA Efren Carrillo of Redwood Credit Union, and Sandra Echavarria, of the California Parenting Institute and Pediatric Dental Initiative, recently joined the Southwest Community Health Center's Board of Directors.
Previously part of Assembly Member Joe Nation's staff, Efren Carrillo's professional background also includes working for the Sonoma County Economic Development Board and the Sonoma County Business Environmental Alliance. Currently, he develops and implements education initiatives for RCU, focusing on Hispanic and youth programs.
"Redwood Credit Union is committed to helping our communities. In my role as Community Education Manager for the credit union, my participation as a Board member for SCHC is a natural fit," Carrillo says. "I look forward to contributing to SCHC's efforts to create brighter future for the thousands of uninsured and underinsured in our communities."
Carrillo also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin, sits on the Santa Rosa Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force, and serves as an Ambassador of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Sonoma County.
Sandra Echavarria is both an in-home parent educator with California Parenting Institute and a case manager with Pediatric Dental Initiative. Echavarria worked for Southwest Community Health Center for four years when the Lombardi Court clinic first opened. She went on to become a Medi-Cal eligibility worker with the County of Sonoma.
"SCHC is special to me both because of the work the clinic does and because of all the staff who helped my professional development. I am greatly honored to join the board and very excited about being a part of SCHC again," Echavarria says.
